St John Plessington Catholic College is an ‘Outstanding’ Voluntary Aided Catholic 11-18 Academy, which serves the population of the Wirral. The school is oversubscribed in all year groups with over 1500 pupils.
Our most recent Ofsted report in May 2013, rated us as ‘Outstanding’, this follows our previous ‘Outstanding’ in 2007. The most recent Progress data published shows that the school achieved a P8 score of +0.72, well above average and placing it in the top 5% of schools in England for Progress.
In 2014 we were awarded National Teaching School status, recognition for the work we undertake to produce the next generation of outstanding teachers and leaders.
We are rightly very proud of our achievements and external validation but crucially what we value above all else is the community we have built at SJP, pupils, staff, families working hard to believe anything, and everything is possible. We are proud of the fact that we do not select our pupils by ability or background but instead uphold our Christian values that all children are welcome in our community.
Our aims are:
‘Our College is a community where we strive to:
- Provide a curriculum that enables all to experience the fullness of life
- Value and celebrate the achievements of all
- Ensure that faith and worship is lived, taught and celebrated
- Communicate effectively and work in partnership with each other
- Commit to safeguarding and promote the welfare of all stakeholders
